Today on the blog a small story on how to make you house a home. My trick and advice to you: add things that only belong to you. This way your interior stands out from all the others. You don’t want your house to be a showroom, but a home.
A house is not a home to me when there is nothing hanging on the wall. I don’t know why but it doesn’t work for me. We were a bit hesitant in our new house (with the beautifully plastered walls) to hang stuff but it really ties the room together. First we added a Picasso poster above the couch and later we added this huge Ruben Ireland poster to our dining area.
My husband is a musician and I felt it was a bit weird that there was nothing in our livingroom yet that represented that. So I suggested we’d hang his guitar up the wall and he was (obviously) very excited. I guess I always try to compensate for the fact I do the main interior styling.
Quite a shame that he has a performance tonight so I can’t show you his prettiest guitar but if you go to my Instagram account, you can see that one too.
If you are having troubles with your home and think there is something missing, I would advice you to ask yourself the following question: in what way does my house stand out among others? This way you let yourself reconsider your interior and focus on how people can see that it’s your house. Try adding photos, posters you like, colors you love. All for the purpose of making your home cosy and all yours. Good luck!
