I get a lot of questions about the painted floor in our guest room so I thought the most efficient way of answering them all.. Is to write a blogpost about it!
Let me walk you through our steps!
You can see the wood looked rough, but this was only because of some dripped paint. The wood itself looked really good so it only needed a bit of sanding and we were good to go. Sanding is very important, it will make the paint more durable. Since it’s a floor and therefor will be used intensively, you should take your time for this step.
The second important step is primer. Priming ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability, and provides additional protection for the material being painted. We used two layers of primer to prepare the floor for the final layer of paint.
After sanding the layers of primer, you’re ready to paint the floor with your desired color. We bought paint especially for floors and you can see in the picture above the difference between primer and the final paint. Now we’re getting somewhere! We again applied two layers of paint, to ensure durability.
And you’re done! We really enjoyed this paint job and even more so – the result it gave. I didn’t find it hard at all, just follow the steps. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’d love to advice you!
