A while ago I shared our hallway makeover with you, but I still owed you part 2! See part 1 HERE.
We’ve painted our stairs in a beautiful warmgrey shade, but we didn’t stop there. We’ve also added some frames. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t stop buying art. We’ve had an attic filled with frames and beautiful art, that we really needed to find a spot for. I always had the idea of adding a gallery wall to the hallway, but my husband was always a little hesitant. He was worried that it might make our hallway a little too crowded. But eventually we decided to try it and now we really love the result. It’s a great way to add personality to your hallway.
I feel a lot of times people opt out on decorating their hallway but I personally feel you should treat it as any other room in the house. I spend a lot of time dressing up the rooms in this house, so why forget the hallway in that process? It’s the first room you enter, and we all know what they say about first impressions, right? ;)
We created this gallery wall on the right, but were a bit bummed out when we realized it meant we didn’t have a place anymore for one of our favorite posters in the house, this Frida Kahlo you see in the center. Luckily we realized we still had one wall left! The colors of this poster match so well with the rest of the hallway. If you want to read the story of this poster, see this post.
Perfect spot, right?
We also added some greens – I love plants for their color and sphere they bring to any room. A little hack I want to share: if you don’t want to drill a hole in your ceiling (like we didn’t with our monumental ceiling), you can use shelf carriers to hang your plants. Simply hang them on the wall and use a string to hang your pots. Easy does it!
The beautiful flower wreath is by Aimélie.
And when you climb our stairs, you’ll find THIS gallery wall which I also love so so much. I have this thing with art and I’m hoping to collect it for the rest of my life ♥
Thank you for reading and have a great day!
Love, Marrit
